However, in March 2024, Bhushan Kumar announced that T-Series would now produce it alone, leading to a legal battle.

The court barred T-Series from using the title "Aashiqui" to avoid misleading audiences into believing it was part of the established franchise. However, since T-Series holds the rights to the previous films' music, they can still use its songs in the new film.
